Building brands that break the mold

After graduating from Temple University, I spent a few years freelancing as a graphic and brand designer. This time of my career taught me many valuable lessons like learning how to sell design work, how to design for businesses in different industries, and most of all, how to work with a wide range of people.

I developed a new brand identity for Harper’s, a Philadelphia ice cream shop known for its inventive flavors and local ingredients. The system includes a custom wordmark, monogram, expanded color palette, and a full suite of branded materials from signage to uniforms.

I was hired to develop a brand identity for the 3PT Open, a high-stakes three-point shooting competition inspired by NBA All-Star Weekend. The logo is rooted in basketball culture, featuring the universal “three-pointer” hand gesture and a basketball element anchored in arched typography. The result was a flexible mark that performed beautifully across digital platforms and challenging physical applications, including custom basketballs.

Subsurface is a Philadelphia-based event company that’s been shaping the underground dance music scene since 2018. I was hired to create a brand identity that reflected the covert, word-of-mouth nature of the events. The logo features a bold, rectangular redaction line with “sub” revealed just beneath it and “surface” placed above. Alongside the logo, I developed a full visual system for promotional materials.

I designed a logo for William Schwartz, a family-owned jeweler in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood. The monogram features the letters W and S in the shape of a diamond and is paired with a bold sans-serif wordmark.
